Peace, Like a River

Darkness threatens a heart to fear.

Yet your voice, it calls out; Can I give an ear?

Though this looks so overwhelming; Too much; No use.

This life seems too broken; Closed up; So bruised.

My heart and my flesh may fail; My strength, give way.

I need to know the Peace You promise this very day.

Can I rest in Your goodness?

Can I know You go before?

Can I trust that this battle is not mine, but Yours?

Of Your fruitful vine, yes I will sing.

To your provision and protection, I will bravely cling.

No, Your Peace is not offered in the absence of pain.

It’s not without temptation; Struggle; Rain.

Peace comes when I see Your face in the cloud.

Jesus, You are my Peace, even in all the doubt.

Peace is in Your Presence; The nearness of God.

And, Your peace does flow in the heavy and hard.

Your burden is light and these waves You can still.

Peace is knowing not how, only knowing You will.

  1. Did you write this?? God has gifted you so much. Today’s devotion in heart of the matter Psalm 21 is on the peace of God being with us through it all. Yesterdays sermon from Tim was excellent too…Faith…these circumstances but GOD!!! Not in a battle over my circumstances but trusting Him in the midst of life. Love you, Tammy
